On 5th October, Indhumathi B from the Department of Physics (III Year) participated in the Madurai EXPA Workshop as an NCC student
The Department of Physics organized an Industrial Visit on 24th October 2025 to Auroville Botanical Garden and Auroville Matrimandir. Students from all years actively participated and gained valuable insights into environmental sustainability, scientific concepts, and innovative ecological practices.
Kavya S, from First Year, Department of Physics, actively participated in the Speech Competition held on 12th October 2025, organized by Kamban Kalagam at Vivekananda School, Pondicherry, and received an Appreciation Certificate for her performance.
Department of Physics participated in the Mime competition conducted by the Energy Conservation Cell and Rainwater Harvesting Cell on 20 November 2025 and achieved the Second Prize
On March 14, 2025, an inter-collegiate ball badminton competition was organized by Pondicherry University in our college. Mathipriya of III Year Physics participated and won the 1st prize
On March 1, 2025, the Reflection programme was conducted at Pondicherry University. Our department students, Kamallini from II Year and Yuvabaarathi from I Year, participated in the Quiz and “What If” competitions and won the 1st prize in the Quiz
The Department of Biochemistry organized an inter-department event on April 22, 2025, titled “Geographical Futures of Earth.” Our II Year students from the Department of Physics, G. Kamallini and S. Akalya, participated in this event and won the 1st prize in the Working Model Design competition.
The Knowledge Hub organized an inter-department Quiz Competition on April 24, 2025. Among the participants, our students from the Department of Physics, S. Akalya won the 3rd prize and G. Kamallini secured the 4th prize.
Idhaya College celebrated Idhaya Conquers on October 16, 2023, where M. Mathipriya, a second-year student from the Department of Physics, won the 1st prize in March Past, 400m Relay, and Kho-Kho, and secured the 2nd prize in Throw Ball.

The Department of Physics conducted a Science Expo on November 6, 2023, as an intra-collegiate competition. Yasmeen and Shanmuga Priya from III Year won the 1st prize, K. Revathi from III Year won the 2nd prize, and D. Vijayalakshmi from I Year won the 3rd prize.
Pondicherry University conducted Reflection on February 28, 2024. From the Department of Physics (III Year), S. Harini and L. Thilagavathy won the 2nd prize in the Poster Making competition, and A. Jasmine Philo and K. Revathi won the 2nd prize in the Quiz competition.
During the PECOFES event conducted on March 21, 2024, by Pondicherry Technological University, K. Sugaa from III Year, Department of Physics, won the 1st prize in Mandal Art
On August 15, 2022, the First-Year students of the Department of Physics won the 1st prize in the drama competition titled “Patriotism” at Idhaya College.
On August 15, 2022, the Department of Physics won the 2nd prize in the Rangoli competition held at Idhaya College. The participants Monisha, Agalya, and Loshini from III Year showcased their creativity and artistic skills, earning them the award.
The Department of Physics organized a Certificate Course on Basic Electrical and Electronic Instrumentation and Hardware–Software Installation from 16th to 20th December 2024.
Under the dynamic coordination of Dr. M. Marshal Arunkumar, Head of the Department, the program provided hands-on training to enhance students’ technical skills and practical knowledge in electrical measurements, electronic devices, and system installation.

The Department of Physics, Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, Puducherry, organized a Guest Lecture on National Space Day on 23 September 2026 from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon at the Infant Jesus Block. Mr. V. Indran, M.Sc., M.Phil., B.Ed., PG Assistant (Physics), Government Higher Secondary School, Koonimedu, delivered an informative session on space science, astronomy, satellites, space missions and India’s achievements in space exploration. The lecture enhanced students’ scientific curiosity, connected classroom learning with real-world applications, and encouraged interest in higher studies and careers in physics and space science.
The Department of Physics organized the WEBSCI Association Inaugural Ceremony 2026–2027 on 25 August 2026 at the Infant Jesus Block.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. S. GokulRaj, Associate Professor, Pondicherry University.

The WEBSCI office bearers were introduced and badges were distributed by the Chief Guest and Principal.

Sivakumar, an Assistant Professor from the Department of Physics at Bharathidasan Government College for Women (Autonomous), Puducherry, and Dr. A. Martin Joseph, a Coordinator, NEET/JEE Trainer, and PGT (Physics) from Achariya Bala Siksha Mandir, Puducherry. The event will be presided over by Rev. Sr. Dr. A. Fathima, who serves as the Principal and Secretary of Idhaya College, Puducherry.
It marks the grand finale of the academic cycle for the The Websci Association and the Department of Physics. It is a time to look back on a year of rigorous experiments, discoveries, and milestones.

The celebration aimed to highlight the cultural significance of Pongal and to bring students together in a joyful and festive atmosphere.

The event aimed to encourage scientific thinking, creativity, innovation, and collaboration among students from various colleges
Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, Puducherry, organized an overall educational and recreational tour to Dizzee World, Chennai, on 13 February 2026, with the participation of various departments, including the Department of Physics, along with students and faculty members. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with a refreshing break from their academic routine while enabling them to observe the practical applications of physics concepts in real-life situations.
Extension & Social Outreach Activity The Department of Physics, Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, Puducherry, has adopted K.N. Palayam, Kandhad, Marakkanam, as part of its extension and community outreach initiatives with the objective of promoting social responsibility and rural development. As a part of this adoption programme, 16 students from all years along with two faculty in-charges visited the village and actively engaged with the community through various meaningful activities.
Village Visit - Pongal Celebration & Community Outreach Programme Department of Physics K.N. Palayam, Kandhad, Marakkanam The programme commenced with a warm interaction with the villagers, followed by Pongal celebration, where traditional customs were observed with great enthusiasm. Students actively participated in preparing Pongal along with the villagers, which helped them understand the cultural importance of the harvest festival.
The Miss Idhaya 2K25 competition was a grand and inspiring event organized by physics department, Idhaya College on November 13, 2025 for Women to showcase the confidence, talent, and moral values of young women. The event aimed to encourage students to express their individuality, intelligence, and creativity while promoting values of leadership and compassion. The competition began with an introduction round, where contestants presented themselves gracefully and confidently. This was followed by a talent round, in which participants displayed their unique skills such as dance, public speaking, etc. The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, recognizing the winners and participants for their efforts. The program was a memorable celebration of beauty with purpose, highlighting that true elegance lies in one’s heart and attitude.
The Department of Physics organized Experiments Day on October 31, 2025, to promote scientific curiosity and hands-on learning among students of all departments. The event included live demonstrations, a memory puzzle, and an exciting science quiz. Dr. Alamelu, Head of the Department of Language, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and delivered an inspiring speech. The Department of Mathematics won the first prize in the quiz. The event was a great success, fostering enthusiasm for science and teamwork.
In celebration of the United Nations’ World Space Week (October 4–10) and its 2025 theme, “Living in Space,” the Department of Physics successfully organized a Guest Lecture that highlighted the scientific and technological foundations of human space habitation.The guest speaker, Dr. P. Praveen, Assistant Professor (G), Department of Physics, Government Arts and Science College (Co-Ed), Mayiladuthurai, delivered an enlightening lecture titled “Living in Space.”

On March 2, 2025 Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, hereby conducts the programmes to the Manaveli – Poothurai Village; work to develop the village in coordination with local panchayat, create awareness about various government schemes to villagers, conduct meeting with SHG to support our entrepreneurship development program, organize rally to create awareness on tree plantation, plastic eradication and rainwater harvesting, conduct healthcare program like awareness on vaccination, food and nutrition, child health, eye and blood donation and conduct social development programs like basic education, women and child empowerment, youth and entrepreneurial development etc.,
The program was held on April 1st, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the AV Room. Dr. S. Remona, a Dental Surgeon (B.D.S.) in Nowfar dental clinic, Pondicherry, was the resource person for the event. The program covered various aspects of dental health. The program successfully provided valuable insights into maintaining good dental hygiene and understanding its impact on overall health

The purpose of the visit was to discuss the importance of self-employment and education in rural development. Students and faculty shared insights on small-scale business opportunities, government schemes, and how education can empower individuals, especially women. The villagers actively participated in the discussion and expressed interest in future awareness programs
The Department of Physics successfully conducted an international seminar on Medical Physics, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students across various colleges. The event was graced by distinguished chief guests - Dr. Manikandan Kadirvel, Research Fellow in Radiochemistry at RII Medical Physics, University of Birmingham, England, and Dr. K. Saravanan, Assistant Professor of Medical Physics at RCC, JIPMER. Their insightful addresses and expertise provided valuable perspectives on the advancements and applications of medical physics, making the seminar a highly enriching experience for all attendees.
