Ms. Venmathi of III B.Sc. Mathematics proudly represented Puducherry State in the Atya Patya National Championship held in Karnataka from October 7–15, 2025. Her outstanding performance helped the team secure first place, showcasing her athleticism and team spirit.
On 12 October 2025, a student from our department, Shani Banu, a first-year Mathematics student of Idhaya College, participated in a speech competition organized by the Kamban Kazhagam at Vivekananda Higher Secondary School, Puducherry, and received prizes and certificates for her outstanding performance.
The Department of English conducted an Introductory Session on Cambridge Learning Resources on November 5, 2025. Mr. John Vijayakumar addressed English proficiency and related tools. Abinaya, a student from Mathematics, actively participated and won a prize.
Idhaya College organized a two-day Yoga Training Program to promote mental well-being, stress management, and emotional balance. Day 1, held on 17.11.2025, included sessions by Heartfulness trainer Mr. Sathy Kannan, who guided students through meditation practices. Students from our department participated and reported feeling calmer and more focused. The day concluded with positive reflections and enthusiasm for Day 2
Our department M.Sc. student, Ms. Pushpa Krithiga, successfully completed the NPTEL online exam on “Mathematical Methods and Its Applications.”
The Multimedia Club of Idhaya College organized a workshop on video editing. The resource person shared his professional experience and provided valuable insights. Participants from various departments were honored for their creative contributions. From the Department of Mathematics, H.Chanthini Priscilla (II - PG) and N. Pooja (III - UG) received a shield and certificate for their editing work, representing the department.
On November 8, the NSS staff coordinator, Mrs. Malimady, along with NSS volunteers from Idhaya College, participated in the yatra from Swadeshi Mill to Rock Beach, Puducherry, to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On October 29, 2025, the Tamil Department of Dupuis Forum conducted a singing competition. Our department students, Ms. Akshaya (II - PG), Ms. Sivaranjani (II - UG), Ms. Dhulaja (II - UG), and Ms. Subasri (II - UG), participated in the competition and secured the first prize.

The Students of the PG Department of Mathematics attended the Seminar in Pondicherry University on 12.01.2024,the topic tTransforming Institutional Practices through JEDI for enhancing research and education. Totally 7 PG students of the Department of Mathematics .Insights were given research as how it can be useful in Day -to- Day life and its application our department staff D.Amudha take over the Students.
NASSCOM Deed held a four-day FDP on “Digital Future: Inclusive Pathways” from 17–20 November at Idhaya Ashram. Four staff from our college—Dr. M. J. Cecilia Shobana, Mrs. Sweetline, Dr. Saleth, and Mrs. Lakshmi—attended. The first session, handled by Sri Ram Mani, focused on BPM in Banking and Finance and offered practical insights and interactive learning.
The Global Peace Day Celebration on 11 November 2025 at the Suganya Convention Centre highlighted the theme “Universal Peace through Individual Peace.” Key dignitaries delivered messages on unity, and our college was represented by Dr. M. J. Cecilia Shobana and Mrs. Sweetline.

The UG & PG Department of Mathematics (Matrex Club), Idhaya College, Puducherry, organized a Guest Lecture on 22 September 2026 at the Infant Jesus Block. The programme was presided over by Rev. Sr. Dr. A. Fathima, Secretary of Idhaya College. Dr. P. Saravanan, Assistant Professor, Department of CTECH, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, delivered an insightful lecture on “Advances in Generative AI Prompt Engineering.” The session provided students with valuable knowledge on recent developments and applications of Generative AI. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks.
The Department of Mathematics held an Art and Craft Workshop on September 18, 2026, at Idhaya Auditorium to build students' creativity and practical skills. After a welcome by Ms. Shahinie, alumni resource persons Ms. Gomathi, Ms. Varshini, and Ms. Yuvasree guided students through hands-on art and craft techniques. Students actively took part, crafting various items while learning patience, focus, and teamwork. The event closed with a vote of thanks from Ms. Nithiyasree, with organizers thanking the HODs, mentors, and the Secretary Sister for their support.

The programme featured an inspiring address by the Chief Guest, student speeches, honouring of toppers, oath-taking of office bearers, Math Walk, and a creative skit.
The event encouraged students to develop mathematical interest, logical thinking, creativity, leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Petit Seminaire CBSE School bagged the Overall Championship Trophy, while Maruti Senior Higher Secondary School secured the Runner-up position.

The event aimed to enhance mathematical skills, promote analytical thinking, and provide a platform for students from various colleges to showcase their talents.
The Department of Mathematics, Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, organized Math Fusion–2026 in celebration of National Mathematics Day, honoring the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The event was conducted with great enthusiasm to commemorate his remarkable contributions to the field of mathematics and to inspire students to develop a deeper interest in the subject.
On 7th March 2026, the Department of Mathematics and Physics of Idhaya College celebrated Women’s Day at Koonimedu Kuppam. Students and staff participated enthusiastically, organizing fun games and competitions for women and children. The event highlighted the strength, unity, and achievements of women, making the day joyful and memorable.
The Department of Mathematics, Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, organized a Medical Camp on 06.03.2026 at Sri Lakshmi Mahal, Vanur. The camp was conducted with the support of the medical team from Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Kalapet, Puducherry.
The Pongal celebration was organized by Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women on 13 January 2026 with great cultural spirit and devotion. The event reflected the vibrant traditions of Tamil culture and highlighted the importance of gratitude towards nature, farmers, and the harvest season.
On 10 January, Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, Puducherry, celebrated Pongal with great enthusiasm in Vanur village, fostering a spirit of community engagement and cultural appreciation. The event aimed to connect students with rural life while honoring the rich traditions of the harvest festival.
The Department of Mathematics conducted the Inter-School Math Meet on 12th November 2025, with students from four schools participating in events such as Quiz, Elocution, Model, and Poster Presentation. The Chief Guest, Thiru. Richard John Kumar, MLA, delivered an inspiring address, and Dr. K. Thirumurugan shared tips on quick calculations. Maruthi Senior Secondary School won the overall trophy, while Petit CBSE School emerged as the runner-up. The event successfully promoted mathematical interest and healthy competition among students.
The Department of Mathematics organized an awareness program on menstrual hygiene, nutrition, and cancer, led by Dr. K. Kamala, Chief Medical Officer at Vanur Government Hospital. Dr. Kamala shared valuable insights on maintaining overall health, recognizing cancer symptoms, and preventive care. The session, attended by students from various disciplines and women from Jeevanandhapuram, was highly informative. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Heads of Departments, and special appreciation to our Principal for her unwavering support in making this event a success.
The Department of Mathematics and Physics organized an industrial visit to Auroville to provide students with practical exposure and experiential learning beyond the classroom. Our first stop was the Auroville Botanical Garden, where students gained valuable insights into various plant species and their conservation efforts. The visit offered an opportunity to explore different thematic gardens such as the Orchid House, Japanese Garden, Butterfly Garden, Plumeria Garden, and Cactus Garden, among others. The experience enhanced our understanding of biodiversity and environmental sustainability. Following this, we visited the Auroville Matrimandir, an architectural marvel and a symbol of peace and unity. We had lunch and spent some quality time exploring the serene surroundings, appreciating the tranquil atmosphere and the philosophy behind Auroville’s establishment. Our final destination was the Auroville Beach, where we relaxed and reflected on the day’s experiences. The soothing environment of the beach provided a perfect conclusion to our enriching industrial visit.
The Guest Lecture on Mathematical Tools was organized by the Department of Mathematics on 13th October 2025, focusing on the topic “LaTeX”. The program began with a prayer song and a welcome address. The resource person, Dr. V. Sangeetha, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, National College, Trichy, graced the occasion with her presence. The session was highly informative and interactive. The lecture inspired students to adopt LaTeX as a professional tool for their academic and research work.
On 6th October, the Department of Mathematics organized the inauguration ceremony for the Certificate Course on Aari. The program began with a prayer song and a welcome address. The resource persons, Mrs. Sundari and Mrs. Revathi from Lotus Foundation, graced the occasion by explaining the techniques, scope, and value of Aari work as a means of self-employment and empowerment. The inauguration program on Aari marked a fruitful beginning towards promoting skill-oriented learning and empowering students with creative and practical knowledge.
The Mathematics Department of Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, Puducherry, inaugurated its Matrex Association on 2nd September 2025. The event began with a soulful prayer and lamp lighting, followed by a warm welcome from the Head of the Department, Mrs. R.R. Sweetline. Chief Guest Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Associate Professor at Pondicherry University, was honoured and delivered an enlightening address on the origins of Mathematics. The programme included the presentation of the annual academic report, future plans, prize distribution, and motivational speeches by students. The ceremony concluded with an oath-taking by association members and a heartfelt teacher felicitation by the students.
IDHAYA College for Arts & Science for Women, Puducherry, hosted a three-day workshop on Algebraic Structures. Dr. T. Asir inaugurated the event, emphasizing logical understanding in mathematics. Sessions covered functions, integration, group theory, and advanced concepts like matrices and vectors. The workshop concluded with a quiz, certificate distribution, and an inspiring address by the Chief Guest.
A seminar was conducted on 22nd April 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on the topic "Basics of Counting and Some of Its Applications". The session was graced by Dr. S. Suresh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Bharathidasan Government College for Women, Puducherry, who served as the Chief Guest and resource person.
Dr. Suresh Kumar delivered an insightful presentation that covered fundamental concepts in counting techniques, including permutations, combinations, and their practical applications in problem-solving. The session was interactive and informative, offering both core and additional content beyond the syllabus, which was highly appreciated by the students.

The Department of Mathematics organized a one-day National Workshop on the Analysis of Mathematical Science. We were honored to have distinguished resource persons from the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur, including Dr. S.V. Bharanedhar, Dr. T. Kavaskar, and Dr. Divya Arumugam Research Scientist,Nyro Research India , cochin,Kerela.Additionally, we were privileged to have Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Associate Professor at the Ramanujan School of Mathematical Sciences, Pondicherry University, and Thiru M. Vaithiyanadhan, MLA of the Indian National Congress, as our esteemed chief guests. The workshop was attended by approximately 7 college students and staff members, all of whom greatly benefited from the program. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the PI Day and National Mathematics Day competitions, adding an element of fun and excitement to the event.

Through this 3D painting, we have bridged the gap between art and mathematics, showcasing the beauty and elegance that lies at the intersection of these two disciplines.

National Mathematics Day was celebrated on 20.12.2024 by the Department of Mathematics, "Mathematics is the rhythm of the universe, and today we've woven its beauty into our Rangoli design". With every pattern, shape, and number, we've celebrated the harmony and elegance of mathematics.
This Rangoli inspires us to appreciate the mathematical wonders that surround us and to continue exploring mathematics's infinite possibilities.
Visiting a Science exhibition in school is an excellent way to encourage students to explore science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) concepts, develop critical thinking, and a foster creativity.
Benefits are to encourage curiosity, creativity and innovation among students, to builds confidence and self-esteem.
The Parents-Teacher Meeting was conducted on 5th October 2024 between 9:30 AM to 1:00 AM with an enthusiastic turnout of parents. A Parents-Teacher meeting is a vital platform for fostering effective communication between parents/guardians and educators. This meeting enables both parties to discuss student progress, address concerns, and work together to ensure academic success.

On 02.09.2024, Mathematics Association (MATREX 2024) was inaugurated. Dr. S. Francis Raj, Associate Professor, Pondicherry University. He was a Chief Guest.
