Sport encompasses any form of physical activity or game, often characterized by competition. Engaging in sports benefits health by generating physical and mental energy, which can be channeled into action, creativity, and innovation. Organized sports aim to utilize, maintain, or enhance physical abilities and skills, offering enjoyment for participants and entertainment for spectators. As an integral part of human life, sports hold significant importance in all aspects of life.
DOUBLE VICTORY AT BEACH SPORTS FESTIVAL 2026
We are delighted to announce that the Handball and Volleyball teams of Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, Puducherry, participated in the Beach Sports Festival 2026, organized by PIPDIC, Government of Puducherry, at Pondy Marina Beach, Puducherry, on 29 and 30 August 2026.
Our college teams showcased excellent talent, teamwork, and sporting spirit and proudly secured First Place in both Handball and Volleyball, bringing great honour and pride to the institution. This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of our students and coaches.
Students from various departments actively participated in the Mallakhamb Training Programme conducted from July to August.
R. Uthira and M. Yogasri (III B.Sc. Computer Science), A. Harini (II B.Sc. Computer Science), Ramya (II B.Sc. Biochemistry), and Dhakshayani (II BCA) showcased their dedication and talent by performing an impressive Mallakhamb display during the Sports Day celebration.
Ten students from the Sports Department participated in the District Level 5km Marathon organized by the Red Ribbon Club (RRC) on 30th July.
R. Uthira (III B.Sc. Computer Science) showcased outstanding performance by securing 7th place and winning a cash prize.
On 31st September 2025, Sherlin (I B.Com General) participated in the Roller Skating Selection Trials and was selected to represent at the National Level.She also demonstrated outstanding skill and determination, winning a Bronze Medal in the event.
On 4th October 2025, Subalakshmi (III B.Com Computer Science), Yogasri (III B.Sc. Computer Science), Harini A., and Kirthiga (II B.Sc. Computer Science) participated in the 12th Under-19 State Level Tennis Ball Cricket Championship, organized by the Tennis Ball Cricket Association.The team delivered an excellent performance and secured the Third Prize.
We are happy to share that seven students from our college participated in the Inter-Collegiate Yoga Selection Trials conducted by Pondicherry University on 24th October 2025.Among them, Ramya (II B.Sc. Biochemistry) and Claris Mary (II B.Com) were selected to represent the university in the upcoming Inter-University Yoga Competition, which will be held at Bangalore on 24th November 2025.
On 7th October 2025, I. Venmathi (III B.Sc. Mathematics) was selected as a player for the National Atya Patya Team to participate in the Atya Patya Championship held at Chandargi, Belgaum, Karnataka, from 7th to 15th October 2025.
P. Charumathi (III B.Com Computer Science) participated in the Khelo India Women Weightlifting Championship 2025–26 held at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Uppalam.She displayed exceptional strength and skill, winning one Gold medal and one Bronze medal in the competition.
Twelve students from our college were selected to represent the Pondicherry Rocket Ball Team in the 2nd Junior Rocket Ball Championship, held at Fathima School, Pondicherry, from 25th to 28th September 2025. A total of seven states participated in the tournament, and the Pondicherry State Team emerged Champions, securing the First Prize.
K. Ramya (II-BIO) and Claris Mary (II-B.COM G) proudly represented the institution at the Inter-University Yoga Competition for the academic year 2025–2026. The event was hosted by SVYASA University, Bengaluru, India.
Our college Ball Badminton team secured First Prize at the Pudhuvai Youth Fest 2026 Ball Badminton Tournament organized by the Sustainable Development Council, held on 11th & 12th January 2026.
The team was awarded a cash prize of ₹10,000, along with medals and certificates for their achievement

Our college Women’s Cricket team secured the Runner-up Trophy in the Intercollegiate Cricket Tournament organized by Kanji Mamunivar Government College at TAC Ground on 20th & 21st January 2026.
The achievement highlights the team’s strong performance and competitive spirit.
Our College Chess team participated in the Intercollegiate Chess Tournament organized by Achariya College on 04.02.2026 and secured the Overall Championship.
Girubhanadhi (III-B.Com G) and Pooja (I-B.Com G) were selected to represent the college in the Inter-University Chess Tournament organized by Pondicherry University.

The Wimbledon Association of Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, Puducherry, organized its Valedictory Ceremony on April 28 at 2:00 PM in the AV Room. The event was conducted to celebrate the achievements of students and mark the successful completion of the academic year.The Chief Guest, Mr. V. VAITINADANE MPED., MPhil., Deputy Director Sports & Youth Affairs Puducherry. Special Guest, Mrs. JAYALAKSHMI BSC., B.P.ed., GP GOVT Hr. Sec. School, Karaikal (Alumna Student) & Mrs. JANAKI PAZHANI BA., B.P.ed., International Player in Tennis Ball Cricket.
The Annual Report highlighting the Sports activities and accomplishments was presented, followed by the release of the Sports magazine and Prize distribution for outstanding players showcasing the memorable moment. Students were felicitated for their academic and co-curricular achievements.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks & National Anthem, expressing gratitude to Rev. Sr. Dr. A. Fathima, Secretary & Principal, all dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their contributions to the success of the event.
