The National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit of Idhaya College aims to develop character, discipline, leadership qualities, and a spirit of service among our students. Our college proudly hosts the Army Wing (SW) under 1P GIRLS INDEP COY NCC, actively encouraging students to participate in nation-building activities and community service programs.
Our NCC cadets regularly participate in drills, parades, service camps, social awareness drives, and personality development programs. The unit focuses on empowering young women to become responsible citizens and future leaders of the country.
To build confident, disciplined, service-oriented young women who contribute positively to society and the nation.
Regular parade sessions are conducted, focusing on drill practice, uniform discipline, weapon training (as applicable), and physical fitness.

New enrollments are open every academic year. Students from all departments are eligible to apply based on physical fitness and interest in NCC activities.

On 04 December 2025, I, the ANO of Idhaya College of Arts & Science, accompanied 30 cadets to the 1(P) Girls Independent Company NCC, Lawspet, reporting at 08:30 A.M in full uniform for the SSA Old Age Home Visit at Moratandi. After the briefing, we visited the Old Age Home where cadets interacted with the residents, assisted with small tasks, and participated in cleanliness activities, fostering empathy and social responsibility. In the afternoon, I conducted comprehensive training for cadets appearing for the B and C Certificate exams and updated the nominal roll by verifying details, attendance, and eligibility, preparing documents for admit cards. The day strengthened community service learning and ensured smooth administrative readiness for the upcoming NCC examinations.

On 16 August 2025, Lt. B. Balananthini, Associate NCC Officer (ANO), Idhaya College of Arts & Science for Women, Puducherry, along with two NCC cadets, attended an interaction meeting held at the Puducherry NCC Headquarters.
The meeting was presided over by Lt. Gen. Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C). The programme was attended by all Commanding Officers and NCC Officers from various units.
The interaction served as a significant platform for sharing valuable insights, strengthening coordination among NCC units, and motivating cadets to take up higher responsibilities with discipline and leadership. The address by the GOC-in-C inspired the officers and cadets to uphold the core values of the National Cadet Corps and strive for excellence in training and service.

On 02 August 2025 (Saturday), Lt. B. Balananthini, Associate NCC Officer (ANO), Idhaya College of Arts & Science for Women, attended the NCC Training Class organized by 1(P) Girls Indep Coy NCC at the Unit location, as per the official communication dated 01 August 2025.
The training session commenced at 08:30 hrs and was attended by 26 NCC cadets from II and III Year, who reported in full and proper uniform. The programme included a combination of physical training and theoretical sessions, which are essential for the holistic development of cadets under the National Cadet Corps (NCC) programme.

On 18 September 2025, a total of 85 first-year students from various departments of Idhaya College of Arts & Science for Women, Puducherry, actively participated in the Preliminary Test and Interaction Session conducted for one-year NCC enrolment.
The session aimed to identify suitable candidates through basic physical assessments, aptitude evaluation, and personal interaction. The interaction process enabled the NCC officers to assess the confidence, communication skills, discipline, and overall suitability of the students for NCC training.
Based on the performance and merit of the participants, 42 students were shortlisted and categorized into three merit lists:
First List: 20 students
Second List: 15 students
Third List: 7 students
The shortlisted candidates have been instructed to report for the Ground Test scheduled on 23 September 2025 at the National Cadet Corps Unit as part of the final enrolment process.
The event witnessed excellent participation and enthusiasm from the students, reflecting their keen interest in joining NCC and serving the nation with discipline, leadership, and commitment.

On 11 October 2025 (Saturday), a total of 35 cadets from Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, Puducherry, attended the NCC Practical and Theory Training Class held at the 1(P) Girls Independent Company, NCC Unit, Lawspet, Puducherry. The cadets were accompanied by Lt. B. Balananthini, ANO, and participated enthusiastically throughout the training programme.
During the session, the Unit Training Staff provided detailed instructions on essential NCC components including parade drill movements, uniform maintenance, turnout inspection, weapon handling basics, map reading techniques, NCC discipline, and attendance regulations. Cadets also received updates on upcoming NCC events, documentation requirements, and the importance of punctuality, teamwork, and disciplined behaviour.

On 23rd September 2025, a Social Service Activity on Waste Management was organized by the 1(P) Girls Independent Company NCC at Puducherry. From Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, 45 cadets, along with the ANO, Lt. B. Balananthini, actively participated in the programme.

On 23rd September, the NCC Ground Test was conducted at the NCC Unit, Lawspet, under the supervision of the NCC Officer. A total of 42 students appeared for the selection process, and 23 students were successfully selected.
The cadets were assessed on their physical fitness and endurance, which included sit-ups, push-ups, and running. The selection was conducted in a fair, transparent, and disciplined manner, ensuring that only the most deserving candidates qualified based on their performance.
The ground test provided students with valuable exposure to NCC’s physical standards and motivated them to improve their fitness, confidence, and discipline.

On 26 July 2025, six NCC cadets from Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women participated in the Kargil Vijay Diwas Wreath Laying Ceremony held at the War Memorial, Rock Beach. The programme was organized by the NCC Group HQ Puducherry in coordination with the District Administration Puducherry.
The solemn ceremony was conducted to honour the brave martyrs of the 1999 Kargil War, who laid down their lives for the nation. The cadets reported in proper uniform, maintained excellent parade discipline, and respectfully laid a wreath at the memorial. The event also observed two minutes of silence as a mark of homage to the fallen heroes.
The programme featured patriotic speeches, national slogans, and a guard of honour, creating a dignified and emotionally moving atmosphere. Through their participation, the cadets developed a deep sense of patriotism, discipline, and respect for the supreme sacrifices made by the Indian Armed Forces.

A total of 218 NCC cadets from various institutions took part in the camp, including cadets from our college, under the guidance and supervision of Associate NCC Officer Lt. B. Balananthini.
