Computer Science is a course which deals with the study of the algorithmic process and the computational machines that are included in this course. Computer Science is used in our daily lives as well to convert the raw facts and the data into useful information that can be used by humans daily. The main focus of computer science course is to give rise to professionals who can work in the sectors that provide different services to the companies.
The Department of Computer Science was started in the year 2008 with one staff and 38 students.
The department got affiliation in the year 2008 with the sanctioned strength of 50 students under Pondicherry University. We started with 38 students in the academic year 2008-2009 and the student intake has been increased in the year 2015 with 75 students. The very next year itself the sanctioned strength has been promoted to 100 students. Nowour department has grown up 298 students per year. So for 938 students have been passed out with good academic results.
To be a recognized leader by imparting quality technical education and thereby facilitating the extensive research environment, equipping students with latest skills in the field of technology supplemented with practical orientation to face challenges in the fast morphing modern computing industry and academia for the betterment of the society.

The computer Lab has equipped with latest computers. Computer Lab 1 with 60 systems 1 LCD projector. Our lab is well equipped with the latest configuration machines and original software’s. The network communication includes a fiber optic backbone is offering 100 Mbps connectivity to the internet. The department has wireless internet connectivity to access the network by the laptop and mobile. Our curriculum includes a wide variety of subjects to enhance the practical knowledge of the students, which are listed below:

Description:
The Department of Computer Science and BCA organized an add-on course Data Science with Python Programming in collaboration with IBM Cloud, starting on 26 November 2025. On 4th November 2025, 90 members of first-year Computer Science students, along with two faculty members, visited TIDEL Neo, Koot Road. On 28.10.2025, the II-year students of the Department of Computer Science visited TIDEL Neo, Koot Road. A total of 90 students, accompanied by 2 staff members, participated in the visit. The resource persons delivered insightful sessions on modern technologies including Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Marketing, and Full Stack Development. Overall Trophy won by Rajiv Gandhi Arts and Science College.
