The Department of Commerce organized a Guest Lecture on AI Digital Marketing on 23.09.2026 at the A.V. Hall.
The session was conducted by Dr. John Peter, Resource Person, who explained the evolution, uses, and scope of digital marketing.
He highlighted the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in digital marketing with practical examples and applications.
The session was informative, interactive, and useful for understanding the latest trends in digital marketing.

Theme: “Creating Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow” – Udyami 2026
The Department of Commerce organized the inauguration ceremony of the POSEICOM Association for the academic year 2026–2027 on 27th August 2026 at the Idhaya Auditorium. The programme was conducted under the theme “Creating Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow”, focusing on entrepreneurship, innovation, and responsible citizenship.
The association was formally inaugurated by Dr. Rose Govindaraj, Assistant Professor, Department of Politics and International Studies, Pondicherry University. The official POSEICOM logo was also unveiled during the ceremony, giving the association a distinct identity for the academic year.
In her address, the Chief Guest highlighted the importance of the younger generation in the growth and development of the nation. She also emphasized the safety, well-being, and responsibilities of Gen Z in the changing digital and social environment. The students were encouraged to develop entrepreneurial thinking, creativity, and responsible citizenship.
The Internal and External Representatives of the Department of Commerce were honoured with badges for their responsibilities and contributions. The achievements of Commerce students were also recognized, and prizes were distributed to encourage their continued success.
As part of the programme, students presented innovative business ideas such as Family Bliss Chocolates, Kids Study Mobile, Kadh Beauty Products, Sky Technology, Lofira Fragrance, Nesigar (Smart Pencil), and Mini Electric Heating Stove. The ideas showcased the students’ creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial interest.
The inauguration marked an inspiring beginning for the POSEICOM Association 2026–2027, motivating students to transform their creative ideas into potential business opportunities and contribute positively to the development of a progressive nation.
The Department of Commerce, Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, commemorated the 220th birth anniversary of Founder Father Louis Savienne Dupuis on 18 August 2026 at Soucilabai Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Puducherry. Lunch boxes were distributed to students, and a personality guessing game and motivational session were conducted, spreading the values of education, compassion, service and empowerment.
The Department of Commerce of Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, Puducherry, organized its Valedictory Ceremony on April 28 at 10:00 AM in the Idhaya Auditorium. The event was conducted to celebrate the achievements of students and mark the successful completion of the academic year.The Chief Guest, Prof. P. Natrajan, Professor & Dean, Director of CCR (i/c), Department of Commerce, School of Management, Pondicherry University, was warmly honored and delivered an inspiring address to the students. Mrs. Gayathree, Principal of Achariya Sri Sampoorna Vidyalayam, Puducherry, also graced the occasion.
The Annual Report highlighting the department’s activities and accomplishments was presented, followed by the release of the college magazine and a department video showcasing memorable moments. Students were felicitated for their academic and co-curricular achievements.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to Rev. Sr. Dr. A. Fathima, Secretary & Principal, all dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their contributions to the success of the event.
The Department of Commerce, Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, Puducherry, organized a seminar on “HR – Analytics & Real Time Data” on 22nd April 2026 at 2.00 p.m. in the college auditorium.
The session was handled by Dr. Jaya Kumar, Professor of Management Studies, Author and Publisher. He provided valuable insights on the role of HR analytics and the importance of real-time data in modern organizations. The session highlighted how data-driven decisions improve efficiency in recruitment, performance evaluation, and employee management.
Students actively participated and gained practical knowledge about current HR trends and industry practices. The seminar was informative, interactive, and beneficial for academic and career development.
The Department of Commerce at Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, Puducherry, successfully conducted a two-day “AI Udaan” training programme on 15th and 16th April 2026. The sessions, led by Mr. Dhilip Kumar, focused on Artificial Intelligence concepts, prompt engineering, and practical applications using tools like Google Gemini and NotebookLM. Students gained hands-on experience and learned to critically evaluate AI outputs using methods like PTCF and SIFT. Interactive activities and discussions enhanced engagement and understanding. Overall, the programme effectively equipped students with essential AI skills for academic and professional use.
The AI Udaan Training Programme, conducted on 15/04/2026 and 16/04/2026, focused on enhancing students’ knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and its real-world applications. It provided a balanced mix of theoretical concepts and hands-on experience in AI tools, prompt engineering, and ethical usage. Participants explored key topics such as Machine Learning, prompt design techniques, and verification methods like SIFT. Interactive activities and practical sessions using tools like Google Gemini and NotebookLM made learning engaging and effective. The programme significantly improved students’ digital skills and critical thinking abilities, preparing them to use AI confidently and responsibly in academic and professional contexts.
Seminar on capital market investments. Mr. Sundar, CMA, SEBI SMART empanelled awareness trainer, was the resource person who explained about the various investment opportunities.
The Department of Commerce celebrated Pongal with great enthusiasm to promote cultural values and unity among students and staff. Students from all three years actively participated by preparing Pongal, symbolising togetherness and teamwork. The celebration began with a Holy Mass and was followed by a traditional pooja seeking blessings for prosperity and success. The festive atmosphere, traditional attire, and active participation made the event meaningful and memorable. The programme successfully strengthened cultural awareness and unity within the department.
The Department of Commerce, Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, successfully organized a National-Level Workshop 2026 on Advanced Excel, Data Analytics, and Power BI on 27 March 2026 at the Idhaya AV room.
The session was presided over by Rev. Sr. Dr. A. Fathima, Secretary and Principal. The workshop was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. A. Thilaha Dharmarajan, Associate Professor in Corporate Secretaryship, Bharathidasan Government College for Women. The resource session was delivered by Er. M. Sangeetha, CEO and Founder of SKILLSIN Corp, who provided valuable insights into advanced tools used in modern data analysis and business intelligence.
The workshop helped students gain practical knowledge on Excel functions, data handling techniques, and Power BI visualization, enhancing their analytical and professional skills. The session was interactive and highly beneficial for the participants.
The Department of Commerce, Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, celebrated Pongal at the adoption village, Poornankuppam, on 10 January 2026. The event included traditional Pongal preparation, games, and competitions, with active participation from students, staff, and villagers. Distinguished guests graced the occasion and encouraged the participants. Prizes and college calendars were distributed, strengthening community engagement. The programme successfully promoted cultural values and social responsibility.
The Department of Commerce of Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women successfully organized the National Level Inter-Collegiate Fest “COMM-FIESTA 2K26” on 18th March at Idhaya Auditorium from 9:30 AM onwards. The event aimed to bring together students from various colleges to showcase their talents, creativity, and knowledge through different competitions and activities.
The program was presided over by Rev. Sr. Dr. A. Fathima, Principal and Secretary of Idhaya College. The fest was honored by the presence of distinguished chief guests including Dr. S. Bascarane (SP Cyber Retd., Adjunct Faculty, RRU, MHA, GOI, Puducherry), Dr. D. Bommy (Programme Assistant, PKKVK, Puducherry), and guests of honour, popular social media influencers Mr. Prijul, Mr. Kishore Kumar, and Mr. Sukai.
Various events were conducted successfully with enthusiastic participation from students. The fest created a platform for students to exhibit their skills and fostered interaction among participants from different institutions.Students from various colleges actively participated in the events with great enthusiasm. Among the participating colleges, Saradha Gangadharan College emerged as the Overall Champion and won the Overall Trophy.
The event concluded successfully with appreciation to all the organizers, participants, and guests who made COMM-FIESTA 2K26 a memorable celebration.
The Greenery Cell and Department of Commerce of Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women organized a session titled “Small Steps, Big Impact” on 21st February 2026 at Idhaya Auditorium. Mr. P. Arul Sekar, Environmentalist and Director of Nansei Restoration, highlighted the importance of environmental protection, the 3Rs, per capita plastic consumption, and the vital role of youth in safeguarding nature. The programme inspired students to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.
The session was handled by Dr. S. Jayakumar, Professor of Management Studies, Author, and Publisher. He explained the role of talent analytics and the importance of HR technology in modern organizations, along with practical insights from his industrial and academic experience. The seminar was highly informative and helped students gain better understanding of current trends in human resource management. We express our sincere gratitude to our Principal.
.A Financial Literacy Awareness Session under the SEBI–NISM Financial Literacy Project was conducted in our college by Mr. N. Sundar, M.Sc., MBA, CMA, a SEBI SMART Empanelled Awareness Trainer and an experienced Cost & Management Accountant.
The first-year students went on an industrial visit to Ponlait and PKKVK, Puducherry, on 07.11.2025.
A Seminar on Digital Marketing was held on 28th October 2025, featuring Mr. Karthik Balaraman, Founder and CEO of Ocean Academy, as the chief guest. He delivered an insightful and forward-looking session on the rising importance of digital marketing in today’s business landscape. Through topics like social media marketing, content creation, and online branding, he broke down how digital tools are reshaping commerce and fueling modern entrepreneurship. His words left the students with a sharper vision of the digital future and the skills powering it.
Awareness Program on Menstrual Health and Hygiene on 8th October 2025. The Chief Guest, Mrs. N. Sumathi from Femi Health Care, shared insightful and useful information on menstrual health, hygiene practices, and the importance of breaking social taboos.
The inauguration of the POSEICOM Association 2025–2026 was a grand success, filled with inspiration, celebration, and promise. It marked the beginning of a new academic year full of opportunities for learning, leadership, and innovation. With the continued guidance of the faculty and the enthusiasm of the student community, POSEICOM is set to achieve new milestones in the months to come.
A Skill Development Program was conducted in the Conference Hall starting from 16.12.2024. The session was designed to enhance the soft skills of final-year students. The program was led by the chief trainer, Mr. Naresh Subramanian, a professional soft-skill expert from Infosys Springboard (Sattya). Students gained practical guidance to prepare for future career opportunities.
A seminar on Career Guidance by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India was held on 18.12.2024 in the AV Room. The session focused on helping students explore professional opportunities in cost accounting. The event featured Dr. Vigneshwaran and Ms. Padmapriya as the chief resource persons. Their guidance offered clarity, direction, and motivation for aspiring learners.
National Entrepreneur Day was celebrated on 19.11.2024 in the AV Room with great enthusiasm. The session focused on the theme “Awareness and Accessibility of Financial Assistance.” The event was led by the Chief Guest, Mr. Thamizhanban, Technical Officer from the District Industries Centre, Government of Puducherry. Around 95 young entrepreneurs participated and later showcased their ideas in an exhibition.
A seminar titled “Capital Spectrum: Bridging Today and Tomorrow” was held on 11.11.2024 at 2:00 PM in the AV Room. Around 70 postgraduate students participated with great interest. The session was led by the Chief Guest and Resource Person, Dr. Pandey, Associate Professor from Kanchi Mamunivar Centre for Postgraduate Studies. The seminar offered valuable insights linking current financial trends with future opportunities.
The Department of Commerce observed Bible Day on 29.10.2024 with events like solo singing, group singing, recitation, and storytelling.
This was followed by vibrant Diwali celebrations featuring speeches, mime, songs, dance, and dialogues.
The programme did not include a chief guest but was enriched by the active involvement of the faculty.
Both events highlighted cultural harmony and meaningful reflections shared by the staff.
A Debate Competition was organized on 24.10.2024 as part of Anti-Vigilance Awareness Week.
The event focused on the theme of integrity in leadership and citizenship.

United Nations Celebration Day was observed on 24th October at Idhaya College with great enthusiasm.

On July 12, 2024, the Department of Commerce and the Entrepreneur Development Cell organized a seminar focused on saree pre-pleating and box folding techniques. The seminar aimed to equip participants with practical skills in saree draping, emphasizing the intricate art of pleating and folding to achieve elegant and professional looks. The seminar's primary objectives were to teach various saree pleating and box folding techniques, enhance understanding and appreciation of traditional saree draping methods, and enable participants to drape sarees with precision and style.
he seminar was led by Mrs. Keerthi, a renowned saree drapist who provided a comprehensive, step-by-step guide on creating neat and symmetrical pleats, followed by a detailed demonstration of box folding and its application in saree draping. She gave a live demonstration of how to pleat a saree. She additionally provided information on the tools required and the techniques that can be applied to get flawless pleats.
The participation of the students was particularly noteworthy. They eagerly engaged in the interactive session. Their enthusiasm was evident as they asked insightful questions and clarified their doubts to perfect their skills. The students' active involvement not only enhanced their learning experience but also contributed to the overall energy and success of the seminar.

The Inauguration Ceremony started at 10.30 a.m. at Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, Puducherry. Our Chief guests were welcomed by Rev. Sister and were welcomed by our possession students with dance. The reception girls welcomed our guests with sweets & Sandhan. The gatherings were seated on the stage The ceremony started with Thamizthai Vazthu followed by Prayer Song. The Guests were invited to light the lamp. The welcome address was given by Dr. G. Kalaiselvi, Head, Dept of Commerce and the Guests were honored with a Shaul, and a Bouquet and Rev Sister was honored with Shaul and a gift. The Presidential Address were given by Rev. Dr. A. Fathima, Principal & Secretary. Then Thiru N. Rangasamy, Chief Minister, Puducherry gave his address and followed by Thiru. M. Vaithianathan, MLA.
An Educational Survey was conducted from 06.06.2023 to 09.06.2023. A total of 15 schools were visited during this field activity. The survey covered areas stretching from Kalapet to Marakkanam. The initiative helped gather valuable insights into the academic environment of local schools.
The Inauguration of the Tally with GST Add-On Course was held on 06.03.2024 in the AV Room. The session highlighted the importance of practical GST and accounting skills for students. The event was graced by Chief Guests Mr. S. Xavier, Mr. S. Venkatasubramaniyan, and Mr. Sridhar. They shared insights on the value of Tally with GST in today’s business and compliance landscape.
A Parents–Teacher Meet was conducted on 09.12.2023 to strengthen communication and support student growth. The meeting was held in the respective classrooms from 9:00 a.m. onwards. Parents interacted with class incharges to review academic progress and discuss concerns. The session encouraged collaboration between parents and teachers for students’ overall development.
